These cylinders are manufactured with high quality cast-in iron liners and will work in all types of performance applications. Bore sizes available are 3-9/16 inch (1250cc on the stock case), and 3-13/16 inch (88 inch with stock stroke, 99 inch, requires 4-5/16 inch stroker crankshaft). Can be fitted with your choice of several piston designs to accommodate specific usages, or you can purchase these cylinders un-sized to fit your pistons. Includes design improvements for structural integrity, plus cooling fins have been increased to improve heat transfer. Note: Cylinders for XB9/12 models and 2004-up Sportsters® have 1/4 inch more fin circumference to match the newer cylinder head fin configuration.

Put a lot more Sport in your Sportster or carbureted, tube-frame Buell with this unique 88 inch conversion kit. This big bore, stock stroke engine kit develops an excellent balance of torque and horsepower that brings lots of arm-stretching fun. This is a square engine, with 3-13/16 inch bore mated to a stock 3-13/16 inch stroke. It is unique because weve developed special forged pistons that weight the same as stock, eliminating the need to re-balance the crankshaft. The kit is supplied with big bore cylinders, Red Shift cams, lifters, pushrods and telescoping pushrod covers, along with our CNC ported cylinder heads equipped with oversize valves. These heads feature fully CNC-machined combustion chambers that match the pistons perfectly.

We offer two versions of this kit. One with emphasis on the lower and middle ranges of power (Big Torque) and one that shines on the upper end of the RPM scale (Big Horsepower).

Installation is straightforward, requiring engine disassembly to bore the crankcases for the big bore cylinders, and case clearancing for high lift camshafts (Zippers can provide these machining services). Rocker boxes will require extra clearance for high lift. Crankshaft requires no disassembly or rebalancing. Requires your cam cores for conversion to Red Shift cams (cores may be purchased outright if desired) 2004-up models also require your stock heads for modification (kits for 1991-2003 models include new Thunderstorm castings).

Engines that will see RPM above 6,000 require heavier valve springs with titanium collars to reduce valve train weight and maintain valve control. If control is lost, performance suffers and expensive parts get beat up in a hurry. When making your purchase, think of the cams as only part of your valve train system.

Most of our XL cams require some clearance work to swing clearly in the engine case. This can be accomplished with careful use of a die grinder after thorough masking of the cam chest. Most models will also require rocker box clearancing for the rocker arms on the pushrod side at full lift. Its a little bit of extra work, but more than worth the result.

615V2: High lift and narrow lobe profile, for high output big bore engines. Run with 10.5-11:1 compression on pump gas. Excellent balance of torque and horsepower. # 413-618

723V2: Popular design for dragsters (88 inch & up), and large displacement, limited street engine use. Broad valve timing and big lift for maximum torque and high RPM horsepower. # 413-635

486V2: Pro Stock and Top Gas cams for Big, Big 4 cam engines, 125 inch and up. Lots of cam required to feed these monsters! Red Shift design for best power and valve train life. Use with 1.7:1 Pro Geometry rocker arms for .820 inch lift. This profile is ground for racing cases that utilize off-center (1986-1990 style) tappet locations. # 413-640

Zippers 1991-2003 XL Pushrod Cover Conversion Kits
Five speed Sportster and Buell engines require that you remove the cylinder heads and take off the one-piece pushrod covers to get to the pushrods, greatly complicating pushrod adjustments for tuning or maintenance when adjustable pushrods have been installed. This pushrod cover kit permits access to the pushrods using special billet adaptors that allow the use of telescoping pushrod covers. Includes twin billet aluminum bases with special seals for the front and rear cylinders that replace the factory pushrod tube lower retainers. A full telescoping pushrod cover kit is included. The twin bases can be purchased separately if desired.

Zippers 2004-Up XL Pushrod Cover Conversion Kits
This kit replaces the solid, one-piece pushrod covers on 2004-up Sportster‚ models, for easy access to the adjusters on adjustable pushrods. Full set of telescoping covers and seals.

Zippers Buell XB & Blast Pushrod Cover Conversion Kits
This pushrod cover kit replaces the large black plastic pushrod covers that do not allow access to the pushrods on Buell XB9/12 and Blast engines. Our kit permits access to the pushrods using special billet adapters that allow the use of individual chrome telescoping pushrod covers (included).
