A R Harley & Sons Ltd was formed in 1996, is family-owned and  has developed the wholesale side of the business. 

Company founder and director, Alistair Harley, says, “Much of our wholesale output is exported to the USA, an interesting fact since America is the home of the Harley Davidson motorcycle.  Having said that, our exhausts are probably the highest quality available on the market and we are the only manufacturer in the world to offer a 10-year warrantee.”   Since its beginnings, the business, which specialises in producing parts and accessories for Harley Davidson motorcycles, now sells across the UK, Europe and worldwide.  The mail order and retail sales are well developed and the next development is writing for Harley-Davidson magazines about Custom motorcycles. A R Harley & sons operates from one of the most beautiful parts of England. The area has been lived in since Roman times and was the centre of iron and gunpowder manufacture for many centuries. The local church dates back to the 13th century. Bodiam Castle is one of two nearby castles. It was begun in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge and its purpose was part fortress and part country house as his main residence was 50 miles to the west. There is a moat and various pools and the setting was elaborately landscaped. Tourists world-wide visit it in large numbers. The town of Battle is only 4 miles distant and is the historic site of the battle of Hastings in 1066 when the Duke of Normandy defeated the Saxon King Harold. A large abbey was built to commemorate the battle and still stands today. The English channel is only 5 miles south and the channel tunnel at Folkstone is only one hour drive away.

Sometimes the realities can encourage the customer not to proceed or to try something else. Failing to complete a project can become a very costly process because any sale of the unused parts won’t realise the cost of purchasing the parts.
